Upgrading a World-Class Observatory with SOLIDWORKS
The Canada-France-Hawaii Telescope (CFHT) Corporation provides the research community with a versatile, state-of-the-art astronomical observing facility. It operates a world-class 3.6-meter optical/infrared telescope, located atop the summit of the Maunakea volcano in Hawaii.

The facility's design is under constant upgrading and it was in need of a software that would allow designers to create designs in a quicker and effective way that will also reduce production costs.
After changing to SOLIDWORKS software, CFHT has reduced their design cycles by half, has seen a higher compatibility with vendors who use the SOLIDWORKS software and have been able to update designs while physically being in the observatory.
Topics Overview:
- Benefits of switching to SOLIDWORKS
- Improvements in portability, compatibility and performance
- Improved design visualization
